  Meet-Me-on-Monday
Happy Monday, everyone and welcome to our next instalment of Meet Me on Monday.  Today we’re excited to introduce Leo McJames!  Over to you, Leo!
1. TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.
Hi, I’m Leo. I’m 36, married for just over a year to my wonderful wife Rachel.  We’ve been together for almost 13 years and I’m a fairy godmother to two wonderful little boys and a beautiful little girl who arrived on 29th October! I currently work in a technical support call centre, which is not thrilling but it pays the bills and keeps me in scrappy supplies. I still don’t know what I want to be ‘when I grow up’!

2. WHEN DID YOU BEGIN SCRAPBOOKING AND WHY DO YOU LOVE IT?

I only really started properly scrapbooking this year with my Project Life weekly album. I’ve always loved paper goods and stationery.  I can remember finding an art/scrapbook store in Cork, looking longingly at all of the packs of paper and coordinating embellishments and really just wanting to take it all home! When Rachel and I got married last year we knew we wanted a photo booth but didn’t want to pay the ridiculous prices to hire one so I set up my own. I laid out a bunch of Project Life cards on the table next to it for our guests to leave notes and well wishes. This became our first album I suppose – all of the photo booth photos got printed, and placed into page protectors with the notes from our guests and a few of our own with our own memories.

I love the creativity of it – of putting memories to paper so you can go back and revisit them and maybe leaving something of value behind.

3. WHO IS YOUR GREATEST SCRAPPY INSPIRATION?

I love Heidi Swapp’s style and basically everything she does. I also love to watch Shimelle’s process videos on YouTube.  I’ve only just started foraying into the world of 12×12 pages but watching how other people do it gives me confidence! I like Becky Higgins’ approach to life in general and the way she built her company.

4. WHAT’S YOUR ALL TIME FAVOURITE CREATION?

I don’t know that I have a favourite as such.  My very first 12×12 page was of our first wedding anniversary this year. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos, got inspired and went and made it without thinking too much about it! I love our Project Life album too even though I’m months behind (like pretty much every PL’er I know!).  It’s fun to flip back through the pages and remember moments that would be otherwise forgotten. I put a lot of the everyday into the album – even screenshots of Facebook posts, or Whatsapp conversations – anything that’s happening at the time.

5. SCRAPPY TOOL YOU COULDN’T LIVE WITHOUT?

My corner rounder! I went through 3 before I found my perfect one.  Previous ones failed or got stuck or were just rubbish. So far my Xcut has been perfect and not failed me yet!

6. WHICH LIKE FOR EVER KIT HAVE YOU ENYOYED THE MOST AND WHY?

I’ve honestly loved all of the kits I’ve had so far! They’re each my favourite until the next one gets revealed.  Since I use the papers for Project Life more than 12×12 spreads it can take me a while to cut into them, figuring out how to get the best from each sheet.  II’ve enjoyed adding different elements to my pages.

7. MISTS OR WATERCOLOURS?

I’ve not really used either, but I think the random-ness of mists would set my OCD off too much! Watercolour pencils (within the lines) seems much more my thing and is on my wish list of things to try very soon!

8. FAVOURITE PHOTO?

This is really tricky! If we’re talking favourite photo of me then it would have to be our ‘confetti shot’ from the wedding! So many happy memories tied to that picture.

9. BEST PARTY TRICK?

I don’t think I have a trick as such. I’m a bit of a wallflower so I’m not always in the thick of things at parties.  I tend to be there to tend to the food and drink (or the drunk) as needs be!

10. MOST THRILLING TIME OF YOUR LIFE?

Right now! Our whole lives are an awesome adventure and no one part is better than any other, just a different story. I’m enjoying being married finally.  My wife and I have just bought our first house after renting for many, many years and we have finally taken our first holiday together.  I have my god children who I see as much as possible and I’m crafting and creating on a regular basis. What more could I need? :)

Indeed, what more could a person need?  Thank you so very much for taking the time to tell us a little about yourself today, Leo.  We look forward to more of your Project Life and 12×12 layouts!
