Hello there! I’m so excited to be this month’s Guest Designer and I couldn’t wait to get playing with this month’s Harmony Kit. The beautiful colours in the kit match perfectly with some of the photos from my recent travels in Uzbekistan. I’m creating a 9×12 album of my trip so there will be more of this size layout throughout the month.
In my travel albums I like to have a kind of title layout for each significant place or city we visit. I’ve printed a few large 9×12 photos to give impact and show a change in place as you look through the album. So today’s page is the start of my layouts on the stunning UNESCO city of Khiva in the west of Uzbekistan.
The city has been restored and preserved with some of the most beautiful Persian architecture including stunning blue and turquoise rooftops and mosaics. This matched well with the colour scheme in the Pinkfresh Studio ‘Indigo Hills’ collection. As it was such a large photo I didn’t want to add too many areas of embellishment to detract from the photo or cover any of the buildings.
I used a large area of layered paper and embellishment at the top right hand corner to create a base for grounding my title. I then felt like there needed to be something else to draw your eye across the page and actually focus on the photo, not just the title decoration. I added a strip pf the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes ‘ Gather’ gold washi tape, patterned paper, chipboard hearts and sequins to tie a small cluster in with the larger element at the top of the page. The beautiful gold accents in the kit really help to pull out the gold spires on top of the blue domed buildings.
I will be back, hopefully in a few days, with more exciting projects using the Harmony Kit.
